Franklin County Justice Center

This courthouse expansion delivers significantly increased capacity while maintaining energy costs equivalent to the original jail, seamlessly integrating new justice functions with the existing facility.
The Franklin County Courthouse project combined a 56,000 SF expansion with significant renovations to modernize and greatly expand the county’s detention and justice facilities while maintaining continuous operations. The addition introduced new housing pods, courtrooms, holding areas, medical spaces, administrative offices, kitchen facilities, and recreational yards, all seamlessly connected to the existing jail. A carefully phased approach allowed successive renovation of the existing facility, incorporating upgraded security systems, HVAC improvements, new booking and visitation areas, and a full roof replacement. Constructed with durable materials including precast concrete, structural steel, CMU, and modular steel cells, the project improved capacity and functionality while maintaining operational efficiency comparable to the original facility.
