The Adelanto Detention Center was expanded under AB 900 funding to support inmate realignment in California. The 295,000 SF expansion added 1,392 beds across three multi‑story, self‑contained housing units, effectively tripling the facility’s capacity. Each unit is constructed of concrete, CMU, and metal panels and includes an on‑unit video office, nurse’s station, recreational space, and educational areas. The project scope also encompassed infrastructure improvements and renovations to existing kitchen, visitation, and laundry facilities. Sustainable features include a new on‑site water treatment system providing potable water for the entire campus, low‑maintenance landscaping, and highly reflective roofing materials to improve long‑term operational efficiency.
