Spokane International Airport Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting

A new 17,000 SF aircraft rescue and firefighting facility supporting emergency response operations at Spokane International Airport.

Spokane International Airport serves Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho and is jointly owned by the City and County of Spokane, with operations managed by the Spokane Airport Board. Emergency response services are provided by the Spokane International Airport Fire Department, staffed by 22 career firefighters. The new 17,000 SF Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility replaces the former station and includes four apparatus bays with direct access to airport roadways, taxiways, and the airfield.

The new facility, built next to a taxiway on the west side of the main terminal, was made using strong steel frames, sturdy masonry, wooden beams, a curved metal roof, and quick-opening glass doors, along with necessary asphalt and concrete surfaces to help with fast emergency responses.
