Swedish Educational Conference Center
Seattle, Washington
The 15,500 SF conference center is used to educate the public, hospital staff, doctors, nurses and other health professionals. The space includes two large divisible conference rooms, two smaller conference rooms, a catering pantry and a Simulation Laboratory for the Critical Care Unit. The center is targeted to broadcast real-time cutting-edge critical care surgeries via satellite to other medical facilities for training purposes. Construction included installation of a 40-ton, 8-foot-wide, 35-foot-long HVAC unit onto the 6th floor penthouse to service the Educational Conference Center. The mechanical ducting was routed 5 stories through the main air shaft to the first floor without disrupting other hospital operations. Infection control and historic renovation requirements were successfully accomplished.
