South Correctional Entity (SCORE) Jail
Located on a 14-acre site just south of the SeaTac International Airport, the SCORE Jail is a precast concrete and steel structure with steel panelized cells and exposed ground concrete floors. A full security system throughout the building with cameras in each cell was included. This facility houses up to 813 inmates who have been arrested or sentenced to jail time for property crimes such as theft, driving offenses, and criminal trespass.
SCORE is the first multi-jurisdictional jail in Washington State. This project includes a 200 sf/bed layout, radial control rooms that monitor 7 housing pods at once, and electronic visitation booths. With jail costs rising nearly 70% over the past 7 years, these features enable the owner to run the facility at a lower cost.
The SCORE Jail project has received the following awards:
AIA Seattle Commendation Award, November 2011 (American Institute of Architects)
ENR California 2011 Best Projects Award of Merit, October 2011 (Engineering News Record Magazine)
