Shoreline Recycling and Transfer Station
Shorline, Washington
King County is using this transfer station as model for other transfer stations through out the county. This 76,600 SF garbage and recycling facility includes features such as a kiosk at the entrance and display board in the office area, to inform the public regarding environmental features of the building and its construction.
The project was certified by the US Green Building Council as a LEED Platinum project. This is in part due to recycling of construction waste, use of recycled and locally manufactured products, reuse of concrete formwork from other sites, use of skylights, translucent wall panels and solar panels, and many other aspects that earned the project points for LEED Platinum Certification.
